Job Summary: Reads and interprets normal production documentation including pre-production special instructions, assembles small metal and plastic parts at the assigned work area, tests parts per provided instructions and may do final verification on completed product in a normal factory environment. Assures all the work completed is verified as being completed on the production documentation per our Quality System.

The Assembly Lead will train, or arrange for the training of production workers. In addition, the Lead will schedule the people and equipment resources to complete production per the requirements of the production schedule.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Production Coordination

  • Attends daily production meetings in order to keep lines of communication open between various departments
  • Plans, organizes, and assigns activities required to complete assembly of parts in their assigned area per production schedule requirements such as quantities and timelines.
  • Responsible for the quality of product being built in their assigned area. 
  • Actively involved in cost reduction programs
  • Informs the Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Technologies, and / or Quality Assurance of any discrepancies in part quality, procedures, worker or equipment
  • Works with fellow Lead Persons to assure balanced workloads
  • Reports possible operator problems to Supervisor


  • Works with Production Supervisor and Manufacturing Technologies in determining training needs
  • Coordinates technical training as required
  • Trains production staff on the core skills or tasks required for general assembler


    • Performs routine, repetitive operations as specified on Production Orders and as explained in Work Instructions
    • Lifts and transports parts between work areas as needed
    • Performs visual verification and testing of product according to provided instructions
    • Requests assistance in any of the above areas when required
    • Must have ability to lift and transport materials, product, or tooling (up to fifty pounds of weight) around the assembly areas
    • Performs continuous process improvement activities as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:   

    • Provides work direction to General and Senior Assemblers
    • Assures training of and monitors performance of staff assigned
    • Reports operator progress during the review process

    Required Job Qualifications:

    • Ability to read and write English
    • An understanding of the assembly operations for which this person is responsible.
    • Proven leadership ability
    • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with Production, Engineering and other Technical personnel to recommend process changes or improvements
    • Must meet annual certification requirements
    • High comfort level with appropriate SAP reports and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Must be able to troubleshoot for process problems

    Required Education and/or Experience:

    • 3+ years of assembly experience
    • 2+ years successful experience with setting up and maintenance of a variety of machines
    • Successful completion of CPC Orientation program (HR001), which includes CPC Quality Systems and ISO Requirements
    • Successful completion of CPC Product Training (HR017 or HR005)
    • The successful completion of CPC Assembly Orientation (CMT001)
    • Successful completion of Assembly in-Process Production Verification Procedure (CMP003)
    • Successful completion of Basic Assembly Training (CMT025)
    • Certified in at least three level 1 manufacturing training modules
    • Certified in at least four level 2 manufacturing training modules

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    • Post High School training in people management skills
    • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
